When I needed to look at my finances, because severe limits were placed on it, having lost my job, I first looked at where we could save money. Of course we were already careful with shopping, driving the car only for essential trips, and so on. Sitting at the table with my wife I suddenly saw lights on in rooms that nobody was in, and the heating was set too high. OK, so that’s easy fixed: Lay down the law: jumpers on, lights off when leaving a room. But then I started thinking about home energy efficiency. I was at a party this weekend and we all decided that we wanted to watch a movie. After several minutes to decide on a movie that most of us had not seen, we grabbed some Popcorn that was loaded with lots of butter and salt and headed into the movie room. We all found a place on one of the couches and got comfortable with blankets draped over us. We all found our snuggle buddies and settled in for the first movie of the evening. I really enjoy these types of evenings because they are very laid back and simple.
